PANJIM: The JMFC court Panjim has directed the Crime Branch to register an FIR against deputy sarpanch of Anjuna Caisua, Patrick Savio Marcelino Almeida for filing false affidavit under sections of 125 A of the representation of Peoples Act 1951, section 14 of the Foreigners Act, sections 4 and 5 of the Registration of Foreigners Act 1939, Passports Act 1967 and various sections of the IPC.
The order has also asked for a report of the action taken to be submitted to the court within 30 days of receipt of the order.
The order was issued in a criminal miscellaneous application asking that the court direct the CID to register an FIR within 24 hours and to conduct a fair and reasonable investigation “in that regard.”
The applicants had also prayed that the police be directed to investigate the matter properly and to investigate all persons against whom suspicion is raised (including politicians) and any other material that comes to their notice in the course of the investigation.
The application also asks the court to issue direction to expedite the investigation in the present case after registering an FIR within 24 hours and that this court monitors and supervise the investigation and direct the police to file periodic progress report.
The petitioners have alleged that Almeida and some of his family members had dual citizenship and are a threat to national security and in the petition have claimed that they are producing proof of the registration of birth and other documents to prove that they are citizens of Portugal and obtained from the Portuguese government.
