PANJIM: Town and Country Planning Minister and Goa Forward president Vijai Sardesai on Friday said that he met Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who is doing quite well and there was no question of replacing him.
“There is no question of replacing Parrikar, with any other leader as the Chief Minister of Goa, he is working well from home,” Sardesai told reporters.
He further said that when he met Parrikar at his residence, he was watching an English movie on television. “I had met CM while coming back from the closing ceremony function of IFFI. I called on him and he is fine. Where is the question of replacing him?” Sardesai said.
Sardesai said that there is no question of his party being with anyone else, when Parrikar is functioning as the Chief Minister.
According to sources, Parrikar will meet State BJP MLAs and government officers on Saturday, at his private residence. “CM will first meet officers and take stock of the governance in the morning followed by meeting with BJP MLAs and ministers of the party,” a senior Chief Minister’s Office official said. He said Parrikar is feeling better and will follow up various files and works that are pending.
The Chief Minister had held a Cabinet meeting on October 31 and met party officials next day.
Several NGOs and the opposition Congress have been mounting pressure demanding the resignation of Parrikar on health grounds. RTI Activist Rajan Ghate held a 11-day hunger strike demanding restoration of governance in the State.
Parrikar, is currently recuperating at his private residence at Dona Paula, since his discharge from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi on October 14.
