Speaking to Herald, Parsekar said the allegations are of a serious nature and need to be inquired into. He said that the Chief Secretary had asked for sanction to prosecute IGP Grag and he has given them a green signal.
Sources at ACB said that the preliminary inquiry was registered on Friday.
Garg has been accused by Vasco businessman Munnalal Halwai of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5.5 lakh to register a FIR at Ponda Police Station in a cheating case.
Halwai said, “I demand that IGP be immediately sent on leave or else placed under suspension so that free and impartial enquiry is conducted.”
