Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired a meeting of the Goa State Animal Welfare Board, during which several key decisions were approved to enhance animal welfare and public safety across the state.
The Board agreed to ensure police assistance for the humane impounding of stray cattle, helping authorities manage the issue more effectively and safely. It was also decided that sterilisation and vaccination of dogs will be made compulsory, with mobile sterilisation units to be deployed in remote areas to expand coverage.

In addition, all meat traders in the state will be required to register officially, a move aimed at improving regulation, hygiene standards and transparency within the sector.
The new measures are expected to strengthen animal protection mechanisms while promoting public health and safety throughout Goa.
