Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has strongly condemned the Congress and the INDIA alliance for creating a ruckus in the Lok Sabha, which led to the stalling of the introduction of the Readjustment of ST Representation in Goa Assembly Bill, 2024.
Calling the disruption “shameful,” Sawant accused the Opposition of deliberately blocking a historic piece of legislation aimed at ensuring fair representation for Scheduled Tribes in the Goa Legislative Assembly.

“This behavior exposes the true face of the Congress and INDIA alliance. They claim to stand for the rights of the marginalized, but when the time comes to act, they only indulge in chaos and obstruction,” Sawant said.
The bill, which holds significance for the political empowerment of Goa’s tribal communities, was expected to be tabled during the session. However, amid uproar and protests from Opposition benches, the proceedings were disrupted, forcing the deferral of several legislative items.
Sawant reiterated his government’s commitment to securing rightful representation for Scheduled Tribes and urged all parties to rise above politics and support the bill in the interest of justice and inclusivity.
