PANJIM: While the three-day mega event of Vibrant Goa kicks off on Thursday, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant who has been very keen on the event has set up his camp office at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium, the venue for the summit.
The message is clear that he wants business and will hold all his business meetings at the venue. Apart from that, the Chief Minister is also likely to do his normal office work from this make-shift office. This is unprecedented and Sawant has bypassed all protocols to make this event a success.
The summit is an opportunity for the State to rev up its economy activity after the ban in mining sector. About 19 international business delegations have already bee-lined to meet with Sawant. All the trade delegations are likely to sign MoUs with Goa Chambers of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) during this event. Viewing this vibrancy and opportunity, the Chief Minister has already announced how he has tried to reform the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) and also assured investors that there will be a single window system and all departments will have to follow a timeline of maximum 15 days set up for clearances of any project.
In fact, IPB will now be bound to respond to the investors and inform them about the clearance within 15 days with help of various departments. “The investor will only have to submit their proposal before IPB and if there is a clearance then the investor will get the construction license within one month,” Sawant said.
“About 550 international delegates have already arrived in Goa and a total of about 2,600 people are likely to attend this event which has over 270 stalls set up by business houses and governments to showcase their products and activities. About 1,150 people have already registered themselves online. Armines Industries of Goa will be signing an MoU worth Rs 100 crore business with an Oman company,” Dr Jagat Shah, founder and MD, Global Networks told Herald.
As a follow up to this Vibrant Goa event, he also added that very soon he will be setting up a trade training center in Goa.
Vibrant Goa chairman Nitin Kunkoleinker said, “It is time for Goan businesses to pull up their socks, identify their strength and look at future opportunities which align with our strength and prepare ourselves to compete globally. The rules of the game in trade sector are changing rapidly and we cannot be a passive partner in the game.”
