MARGAO: South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) chairman Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar has sought the intervention of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to resolve the hurdles that the authority is facing to shift the wholesale fish market to an alternate location.

The CM is also the Chairman of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), which is building the new market.
While GSDIC is unable to fund the Rs 1 crore required to level the preferred alternative land that was identified for shifting the market, the CM has also been asked to decide whether they should drop the entire plan of shifting the market on a temporary basis.
The SGPDA Chairman, who moved a note to the CM and discussed these problems with him, stated that the CM will convene a meeting soon where the final decision will be taken.
Salkar added that he has asked the Authority to invite the retail market vendors for discussions for resolving the issues amongst themselves.
He said SGPDA on their part has repaired the retail market but now it is the turn of the retail vendors to agree to the hike in fees, failing which action would be initiated.
He further said that issues with the SGPDA building itself will also be addressed soon.
