Coastal belt MLA, Tourism Min brief CM over taxi strike

PANJIM: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar have stated that they have met the Chief Minister on the taxi protests and conveyed their viewpoints on the issue. 

Lobo said the Chief Minister has studied the issue and knows how to help the taxi operators. But for that, there has to be a dialogue.

He said, “The Chief Minister has asked him to appeal to the taxi operators to withdraw their strike.” 

He added that whenever the taxi operators meet the government, it will be with the Chief Minister, Transport Minister and himself as he is the MLA of the coastal belt. He reiterated that negotiations across the table are the only way of resolving the issue. 

Tourism Minister Ajgaonkar added that the issue is no longer in their hands as GoaMiles as well as the airport counter has been handed over to the Transport Department.  

He rejected the allegations made against him by the taxi operators.
