MARGAO: The Colva village panchayat has taken the initiative to remove hazardous sand deposits from the Colva beach square after the Tourism Department’s continued inaction on the matter.
Previously, the panchayat had invested Rs 40,000 in a similar sand removal operation.
The accumulation of sand at the square is an ongoing challenge, with coastal winds regularly depositing sand across the area. Despite the panchayat’s numerous appeals to the Tourism Department for assistance with maintenance, their requests have fallen on deaf ears.
