MARGAO: The gram sabha of the village panchayat of Colva discussed a host of issues at the Sunday gram sabha affecting the village.
Even as the minutes of last gram sabha were being read, some villagers pointed that certain correction need to be made which were adopted. Sarpanch Snowkon Gonsalves also agreed to hold special gram sabha to discuss the issue of construction of ground near the church.
Gram Sabha member Judith Almeida questioned Sarpanch Gonsalves on issuing of NOC to a hotel project which she claimed was in total violation of CRZ. Further, she also informed the gram sabha that in December 2012, the Colva panchayat had issued demolition notice which was challenged.
Sarpanch Gonsalves informed that the demolition order was set aside by the panchayat director and that subsequently another plan was approved by the concern authorities adding that he wished not to discuss further on the issue as it was sub-judice, while Almeida accused the panchayat body of betraying the trust of villagers.
Yet another issue raised at gram sabha was in regards to the cellular mobile towers erected in village with sarpanch having informed that four of the towers installed having necessary permission from the panchayat, while the tower installed on Silver Sands have been issued notice which was satisfactory replied.
Gram sabha members were also informed that no plans on development along the beach to have been received from tourism department while sarpanch Gonsalves stated that the panchayat was seriously interested in solving the garbage problem in village with land acquisition process for garbage proposed disposal commenced and section 4 under land acquisition notified.
He applied to BPL residents to approach the panchayat office to register themselves for availing the facilities available.
