PONDA: The government on Wednesday began distributing crop damage compensation to farmers affected by heavy rains.

Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, Agriculture Director Sandeep Faldesai, and Deputy Director Kishore Bhave were present at the event. Approximately 1,300 non-krishi card holders and 2,646 krishi card-holding farmers across the taluka will benefit from a total fund of Rs 3.60 crore.
The compensation was distributed under the Shetkari Aadhar Nidhi scheme for farmers whose crops have been damaged this season.
These vehicles were purchased by the department at a cost of approximately Rs 40 lakh.
