The High Court has granted interim relief to two prominent diocesan organisations by staying an order that cancelled their Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) registration certificates.
The relief was granted to the Diocesan Society of Education and the Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media, which had challenged the cancellation order in appeals filed against the Union of India.
The court’s decision temporarily halts the effect of the cancellation, providing relief to the two organisations while their appeals are being considered.
The development comes amid the organisations’ legal challenge to the cancellation of their FCRA registrations, which govern the receipt and utilisation of foreign contributions by eligible entities in India.
