CURCHOREM: AICC Secretary and Goa observer Dr Chella Kumar has stated that the Congress party will never allow the nation to be divided, as could be the case under the BJP.
He was addressing Congress workers at a Congress workers meeting organised by Curchorem Block Congress Committee at Richa Hall, Curchorem, on Sunday.
Speaking further, Dr Chella said BJP divides the nation and creates differences among the people, but Congress is a river of development. “It works to unites all kind of people without differentiating them on grounds of religions, caste or creed,” stated Dr Kumar.
He admitted that Congress leaders had made several mistakes, due to which Congress lost power in Goa. “But people in Goa are fed up with the ruling party and are coming back to Congress,” said Dr Chella and appealed workers to work keeping aside all the differences to make Congress stronger.
South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha blamed Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for the sufferings of the mining dependent people in Goa. “I pray to Lord Ganesh that during the hearing of the mining case, Supreme Court grant permission to restart legal mining in the State,” he added.
GPCC President Subash Shirodkar, General Secretary Sankalp Amonkar, Treasurer Shanker Kirlaparkar, former minister Domnick Fernandes and former CCMC chairperson Maria D’Costa also spoke on the occasion. Curchorem Block President John D’Costa also spoke at the meeting.
