PANJIM: The newly appointed AICC incharge for Goa, Manikrao Thakare on Wednesday expressed his hope that the party will win both the Parliamentary seats in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls and also assembly elections thereafter.
During his two-day visit to the State, Thakare held a series of meetings with party leaders, office-bearers and MLAs individually and said that people are fed up with BJP’s policies in Goa and are waiting for the elections to teach them a lesson.

“I am confident that we will strengthen our organisation. Situation is very good with good support from workers. I think we have got a good cadre and leaders. We will go ahead with enthusiasm and will win the elections,” he said.
“We will take the failures of the BJP government to the people, who will teach them a lesson, People know how BJP is trying to finish democracy,” he said. On defections, Thakare said, “I do not agree that it affects the party when leaders defect, in fact people feel cheated, they voted for the Congress but these people chose personal ambitions over people’s mandate.”
