Panjim: Congress on Thursday alleged that the nomination filed by NSUI candidate Prachiti Gurav has been rejected by Goa University without valid reason.
State Congress President Luizinho Faleiro said NSUI has fielded 11 candidates, including one each for the post of Chairman and Lady Representative. “To our shock, Prachiti Gurav’s nomination has been rejected by the University stating that the college has not
submitted the expenditure certificate on fund utilization,” he said.
However, Faleiro claimed that the college has informed the Directorate of Student’s Welfare and Culture Affairs of GU about its submission. “Government is pressurising the University and trying to murder democracy,” he charged.
Congress has sought the intervention of Chancellor Dr Mridula Sinha and Vice chancellor Varun Sahni in the matter. “We demand that the officers involved in this illegal act be suspended and an inquiry be initiated,” he stated.
