Leaders and workers of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a joint protest outside the Electricity Department in Panjim on Monday, expressing anger and confusion over the recent power tariff hike.
The protesters demanded clarity from the government on the revised electricity rates, alleging that the hike was implemented without proper public communication or justification.
Carrying placards and raising slogans, the Congress and AAP members attempted to march into the Electricity Department premises but were stopped at the gate by security personnel.
Party leaders said the tariff hike would burden households and small businesses already struggling with rising costs, and accused the government of failing to protect consumer interests.
Both delegations have sought an official explanation from the department and urged the state government to roll back the tariff increase until a transparent review is conducted.
The protest concluded peacefully under police supervision, but both parties have warned of statewide agitations if the government fails to respond.
