Speaking about the Lok Sabha elections and the by-polls in three Assembly constituencies, GPCC president Girish Chodankar said that the party was grateful to the workers and leaders of not just the Congress but also the ruling dispensation including the BJP and its allies in the government.
He said, “GFP booth workers worked with us and we are grateful for their support. Ex-ministers, as well as present ministers and workers of the BJP, extended their support to us and we are grateful to all those workers and leaders. This is perhaps for the first time that workers of the ruling dispensation have worked for the opposition party.”
He further stated that the people as well as the leaders and workers had a single feedback that the BJP leadership has taken them for granted and therefore decided to teach BJP a lesson.
Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant (Babu) Kavalekar said, “Like 2017, people have come out in large numbers and voted for the Congress and have expressed their anger. On May 23, the results will prove their angst to the ruling party. We are grateful to the MGP for extending their support in both the Lok Sabha seats and in by-polls.”
He accused the BJP of hypocrisy for claiming that the Congress was a dynastic politics while the BJP itself is involved in family raj in Mapusa and now in Panjim.
