PANJIM: Congress will kick off its poll campaign in the State with ‘cycle yatra’ on Sunday, March 24 from Aldona with the theme ‘chalo gaon chale’.
Addressing the media, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Communication Department Convener Trajano D’Mello said, “We are launching our poll campaign in yet another unique way which will be green and clean campaign. We will be cycling through all the Assembly constituencies beginning from March 24 in Aldona and then continue the campaign in month of April in South Goa.”
Campaign organisor Anil Pisurlekar informed that the campaign would be launched by GPCC President Girish Chodankar and a group of 50 cyclists will be a permanent part of the cycle yatra and will be joined by another 200 at the constituency level.
He said, “The cycle yatra will cover three constituencies in a day and will be followed by a public gathering in the constituencies. The gatherings will be addressed by party leaders from Goa and outside.”
On March 24, the cycle yatra will cover Aldona, Mapusa and Tivim, on March 25 it will move through Mandrem, Pernem and Siolim, on March 26 the yatra will cover Saligao, Calangute and Porvorim, on March 27 the yatra will go through Panjim, Taleigao and Santa Cruz, on March 28 it will cover St Andre, Cumbhajua and Priol, on March 29 Valpoi and Poriem and on March 30 the yatra will go across Sanquelim, Mayem and Bicholim before continuing in South Goa, the dates for which are yet to be declared.
