PERNEM: The villagers of Ashvem-Morjim were peeved as the authorities concerned failed to stop loud music being played in a club situated adjacent to the turtle nesting site at Morjim on Saturday night.
What annoyed the villagers most was the Pernem police turning a blind eye to the ongoing noise pollution despite the directives of the High Court of Bombay at Goa to keep a vigil against events creating noise pollution across the State part6icularly in the coastal areas.

Sukhaji Naik, a local charged that the police jeep made three round near the party but failed to stop the loud music being played at Azule Club, situated near the turtle nesting site. Even one of the Morjim panchayat members was seen coming out of the Club.
On noticing a police vehicle stopping barely 100 metres away from the venue, the villagers rushed to them and told them to stop the loud music. To this, the policemen asked villagers whether they had lodged a complaint against the Club and when the villagers said yes, the cop told them to come to the Pernem police station much to the chagrin of the residents.
The villagers also contacted Pernem Deputy Collector Deepak Vaigankar but in vain. The villagers stated that they had submitted representation to the Deputy Collector and the Pernem police on two occasions and also to the Morjim and Mandrem village panchayats but all failed to initiate action against loud music played near the turtle nesting site.
