PANJIM: Ahead of the Carnival float parade in Panjim, Traffic Department has released a comprehensive traffic plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement on Saturday.
Before the procession, slated to begin at 3pm from Science Centre, the floats will be lined up on the Taleigao-Miramar bypass road towards Adarsh Circle and allowed to move to the starting point at 2.30pm.
Traffic from Dona Paula to Panjim will be diverted at Aivao junction via the internal Caranzalem road to come till Adarsh Circle and proceed to Panjim via Miramar/St Inez. Likewise, traffic from Panjim, proceeding towards Dona Paula, will be diverted from Miramar circle towards Tonca-Adarsh Circle-internal Caranzalem road to come up to Aivao junction and proceed further to their respective destination via NIO circle.
The department has banned plying of vehicles from 2pm till the procession concludes on the Dr Jack Sequeira Road to Hotel Swim Sea, Caranzalem, it being the parade route.
Vehicles coming from North Goa, will be parked at SAG Ground Campal, whereas vehicles from South Goa will have to ply on the route via GMC-Goa University-NIO Circle-Miramar, to park at Tourism Department’s parking lot near Green Rosary School, Dona Paula or at NIWS Ground Caranzalem. The EDC Complex at Patto is another parking lot.
To ensure that the city does not witness traffic chaos, Tourism Department will provide KTC shuttle bus service from the main Panjim bus stand, ferry wharf and SAG ground to Miramar and back.
Traffic Department has marked four routes – NIO Circle to Hotel Swim Sea, Aivao junction to Adarsh Circle, Miramar Circle to Adarsh Circle via Tonca, Miramar Circle to Sharda Mandr School to Science Centre (one way) and D B B Marg – as No Parking Zones.
