Corporate World Wants to Decode Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Success Formula; IIM Indore Launches Study

The remarkable rise of teenage cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has now caught the attention of India’s premier management institutions. Following his record-breaking IPL 2026 season, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore has announced plans to conduct a comprehensive case study on the 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals opener in what is being described as the country’s first multidisciplinary study on a young sporting phenomenon.

The study, referred to as the “Vaibhav Model,” will bring together experts from sports, psychology and management to understand the factors that have enabled the teenager to achieve extraordinary success at such a young age.

IIM Indore Director Himanshu Roy said the study will go beyond cricket statistics and examine the broader ecosystem that helped shape Sooryavanshi’s development.

“This study will analyse Vaibhav’s achievements while also examining the social, psychological, family and institutional factors that contribute to the development of exceptional talent at a young age,” Roy said.

The initiative comes after an extraordinary IPL season in which Sooryavanshi emerged as one of the biggest stories in world cricket. Representing Rajasthan Royals, the teenage opener rewrote several records and established himself as one of the most destructive batters in the tournament.

Sooryavanshi finished IPL 2026 as the tournament’s highest run-scorer, collecting 776 runs in 16 innings at an average of 48.50 and a staggering strike rate of 237.30. His season included one century and five half-centuries, earning him the prestigious Orange Cap.

Perhaps even more remarkably, he smashed 72 sixes during the season, setting a new IPL record for the most sixes in a single edition. The previous record of 59 sixes was held by legendary West Indies batter Chris Gayle and had stood for 14 years.

His aggressive approach at the crease, exceptional bat speed and fearless mindset have drawn widespread admiration. According to reports, Sooryavanshi’s decision-making time against bowlers is estimated at just 0.3 seconds, allowing him to react quickly and dominate even experienced international bowlers.

Roy said the study would also focus on challenges that accompany success at a young age. Factors such as fame, financial rewards and social media attention can place immense pressure on emerging talents.

“Many gifted youngsters fail to reach their full potential because of mental fatigue and the burden of expectations. We want to understand how exceptional talent can be nurtured sustainably and supported over the long term,” he said.

Management experts at IIM Indore believe the findings could have applications beyond sport. The institution hopes the study will provide insights into talent development, leadership, performance management and resilience that can be applied in the corporate world as well.

For now, however, the spotlight remains firmly on Sooryavanshi. At just 15, he has already become the face of a new generation of fearless cricketers. With records tumbling and management experts seeking to understand his success, the teenager’s influence is extending far beyond the cricket field.
