The trio, along with ex-mines employee Robert Gonsalves, Arun Patil, Shivaji Patil and Aniket Yallurkar, has been indicted for hatching a criminal conspiracy to murder Hassan Khan on March 21, 2013.
Sources say that Ravi and Raj shared the same cell in the Sada sub-jail with Anil from where the cell phone went missing. The evidence was reportedly flushed down the jail toilet and the SIM card destroyed by inmate(s). The suspicion now lies on the two who could be taken into custody. The anti-burglary squad has already registered a separate offence for destruction of evidence, but names have not been disclosed to the media as yet.
Meanwhile, the anti burglary squad is also expected to question certain Sada jail officials, who are suspected to have helped the criminals to execute the robbery plan.
Three accused Bhoe, Rahul Jadhav of Belgaum and ex-convict Mohammed Saddique from Ponda were arrested on charges of robbery-cum-assault at the residence of Raj Gomes, at Nuvem.
