Incident: The workers union of a pharmaceutical unit at Kundaim in its police complaint accused the company management of recruiting workers with criminal background. The complaint further stated that the workers union raised concern over recent decision of the company’s management to recruit casual workers from North-East states. The union members also alleged that the workers have been recruited without verification of their antecedents.
The union claimed that the behaviour of the casual workers recruited recently was not good with the female workers during working hours and there is a feeling of insecurity. They suspect that an act to recruit workers with criminal background is deliberate to harass the permanent employees.

Police Station: Vasco
Incident: Burglars broke open the main door of the flat and stole gold ornaments from the cupboard worth Rs 3.56 lakh on January 1 between 10.15 am and 12.30 pm. The incident occurred when Gregorio Fernandes had gone out of the flat for some work.
Status of Investigation: Vasco Police is yet to solve the crime. Sources at the police station informed that it’s difficult to solve such crimes as the culprits soon leave the state. The source added that theft of gold is equally difficult to trace as it is easily exchangeable with other goldsmiths across the state.
Victim: A teacher
Place: Barcem
Police Station: Cuncolim
Date: April 25, 2013
Incident: An unknown person robbed the teacher from Balli, Neelim Anil Pagi of her gold chain when she was heading to the school at Barcem. The incident had occurred at around 7.45 am when the unknown miscreant suddenly appeared on the scene and snatched the chain worth Rs 80,000.
Status of investigations: Cuncolim police are groping in the dark over the incident, with the police only saying they are investigating the case. Incidentally, a host of robberies reported in the jurisdiction of Cuncolim police station over the last one year remains undetected till date.
