PANJIM: Cuncolim Municipal Council Vice Chairperson Mariao Moraes has filed a complaint with the Lokayukta on Wednesday against then Chairperson, Chief Officer and two others for misappropriation of municipal funds in the years 2009 and 2011.
According to complaint Moraes said that the then officers of the municipality had followed improper procedure while tendering the work in municipal jurisdiction worth Rs 5.20 crore.
Moraes alleged in the complaint that works worth Rs 1.80 crore were never done by the contractor whereas it was shown that work of some roads had been done. He said that during the period from 2007 to 2011 PWD had taken up the major works of Rs 8.30 crore and minor works of Rs 2 crore.
He said that two works were tendered illegally, flouting all conditions in 2009 (Rs 1.90 cr) and in 2011 (Rs 3.30 cr) and had shown the same works which were already done by PWD. He said that there is misappropriation of Rs 1.80 crore as per the documentary evidence submitted to the Lokayukta.
As per the complaint work worth Rs 5.20 crore was awarded to Jolly Construction-Paroda as per CMC records whereas there is no record of construction license of construction firm and contractor.
