CURCHOREM: Curchorem Block Congress and Youth Congress members demanded to sanitize the entire Curchorem market by implementing one day complete lockdown.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chairperson of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) on Monday, stated that since the people are back to the near normal daily routine amidst the rising cases of COVID-19 cases in the State.
“The number of COVID-19 cases rising day by day in the Curchorem market, making it a major diseases prone area, it is a highly recommended suggestion to municipal authorities to have a complete sanitization and fumigation drive to be conducted for the entire town of Curchorem.” they mentioned in the memorandum signed by the block president Pushkal Sawant and Youth block president Adv Viraj Nagekar.
When contacted the CCMC Chairperson Balkrishna Hodarkar, he said that the council has no problem to sanitize the market if the market association decides to voluntarily keep the market close for one day. “If they are voluntarily ready to keep the market close for one day, we will sanitize the market but they must inform us well in advance.” said Hodarkar
“We had suggested and given a letter in the month of July to the municipality to sanitize the market but till now they have not done anything. Since now the Congress party also urged them to do so, we hope they will do.” said Curchorem Merchant Association President Rocha Pereira and added that if they sanitize people also will get more confidence to visit the market.
