“For the last two years now, our panchayat has been neglected by the authorities and even after tenders have been prepared, the PWD has failed to carry out pre monsoon works” said Curtorim panch Santan Rodrigues.
Rodrigues gave the example of how the recent rains had already caused havoc in the village and that the people had started to question the panchayat when it had done its part and followed due process.
Rodrigues demanded that the government either pay the workers the market wage or execute the pre-monsoon works through the PWD. He was also critical over the very functioning of the Salcete BDO office and questioned why panchayats should suffer if there’s no coordination between the BDO and the engineering section.
