MARGAO, APRIL 22
The Citizens Welfare Committee has asked the Chief Minister to sack the Chairman of SGPDAand start afresh the process to draw a draft Provisional Outline Development plan for Margao through the TCP Department.
In a letter to the CM, the CWC said the government should seek public objections and suggestions and show transparency and get a proper TCP approved ODC for Margao within the stipulated time for the future of Margao’s planning and better development.
CWC President Savio Dias said that all out efforts are being made to prepare Goa’s Regional plan 2021, but lamented that the Margao ODP 2011 is not approved despite the Margao MLA presiding over the reigns of TCP department. “The draft provisional ODP was notified in September 2006 and re-notified on August 23, 2007. Today, SGPDA has no TCP approved ODP in force”, he said, while demanding a thorough inquiry into the approvals and development permissions given on the basis of the draft Provisional ODP.
Saying that efforts are on to prepare a builder friendly ODP, the CWC has warned that the NGO will not remain a silent spectator to the corrupt practices and threatened to intensify the agitation to expose the corruption in the rampant conversion of land in Margao ODP and ill planning of the Margao city.
