PANJIM: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has categorically said that Dabolim airport would continue to operate even after Mopa comes up.
“Last year Dabolim handled five million passengers and by the time Mopa comes up that number will double up,” Parrikar said in his speech.
He said the worries of Dabolim getting shut are needless. “If you look at the figures, we will have to continue Dabolim not because of anything else but out of compulsion as the air traffic is going to be that much,” he said.
Expressing his gratitude to Modi, Parrikar said that after Modi came to power at the Centre, Goa carried out maximum number of infrastructural projects as compared to other States.
He said that all the projects planned in Goa were linked to skill development, without which, he said, generating employment would not be possible.
Earlier, the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati spoke of how the aviation sector had recorded phenomenal growth under Modi.
