VASCO: Verna police on Friday filed a case under Section 304-A of IPC against dockyard owner, supervisor and manager for not providing safety equipment resulting in the death of a worker on duty inside the Sagar marine dockyard.
According to Police Inspector Uday Parab, a complaint was lodged by the victim’s brother. The kin had complained that Chandru Goverkar (supervisor), manager and owner Chandrakant Gawas acted in a negligent manner in allotting and supervising the work to his brother Lopes Vas who was working at Sagar marine dockyard.
In his complaint, Melbino Vaz alleged that the accused persons failed to provide safety equipment to his brother while he was on duty. As a result, his brother got electrocuted and fell into the water accumulated in the tank of the barge and got drowned. “We have booked all three accused persons and further investigation is in progress,” Parab said.
