PONDA: In a show of strength, MGP candidate Deepak Dhavalikar and BJP candidate Subhash Shirodkar on Sunday campaigned at Shiroda and Borim with large number of supporters.
Political observers say that Deepak Dhavalikar wants to garner large share of votes at Borim panchayat by concentrating his campaign more on this panchayat.
To counter that, Shirodkar campaigned there with large number of supporters.
Both candidates are trying to impress voters in each other’s stronghold at Borim and Shiroda. Shiroda has four panchayats at Borim, Bethora, Panchawadi and Shiroda.
Congress candidate Mahadev Naik is also campaigning hard. His son’s marriage is scheduled on April 22 and he is busy in marriage preparations. However, considering the code of conduct, it is learnt that marriage would be held as scheduled on same date however, as Mahadev Naik is contesting election he has scheduled his son’s reception ceremony after the election.
Beside them, Goa Suraksha Manch and AAP and Forward Democratic Labour Party candidates are also in fray in Shiroda.
High voltage battle is expected in the constituency as stability of the government will largely depend on the by-polls results of Mandrem, Shiroda and Mapusa.
