Teachers from the Gujarati Samaj Educational Trust for Handicapped Students faced a distressing situation recently when they rushed an injured child to the South Goa District Hospital. Upon arrival, they were reportedly made to wait for nearly 10–15 minutes because a wheelchair was not immediately available.
The delay caused significant inconvenience to both the teachers and the child, who required prompt assistance. Teacher Liby Mendonca expressed concern over the lack of basic emergency support at the district’s main hospital, stating that such lapses can worsen already critical situations.

The staff have urged hospital authorities to ensure that essential equipment—including wheelchairs—remains readily accessible at all times, especially in emergency areas.
