Demo Denied by Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council

The Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) denied permission for an October 2 public awareness demonstration on potholes, women’s safety and road safety, citing a programme scheduled at its premises on Gandhi Jayanti. Those seeking permission later claimed the CCMC premises were found largely empty, raising questions over the reason cited for the denial. Former Goa Forward Party leader Dattaraj Dessai questioned the municipal administration over the decision.Dessai also asked whether the civic authorities were functioning under pressure.
