VALPOI: Despite the monsoon setting in, in the State with full force, taps in Sattari ran dry for a day on Monday. Due to a power cut, Dabos water treatment plant was shut down for 21 hours from 10 am. The incident affected the entire Sattari Taluka.
Thankfully, the plant resumed the operations on Tuesday 2.30 pm onwards and the water supply is expected to be restored by Wednesday night to all the villages. However, the possibility of water shortage still looms if the power supply is down again.

This was the first time that the water plant was shut. A tree fell on the 33KV power line on Monday night at Nhaveli, Fanaswadi, which affected the power supply as well as water supply to the taluka. Since there is a possibility of this happening often during the monsoon, the locals have demanded for the authorities concerned to permanently resolve the issue.
Honda and nearby regions in Sattari were supplied with electricity from Sanquelim. However, the rest of Sattari plunged into darkness. With locals deprived of both water and electricity throughout the night, they were understandably agitated.
“There is a possibility of water supply being restored to nearby areas of Valpoi municipality by late Tuesday night. However, other areas will receive the water by Wednesday evening,” Assistant Engineer Prashant Gaude said.
