Development of Rs 28 cr in every constituency only on paper: Babu

PANJIM: The Congress Legislative Party has criticised the functioning of the government saying all assurances made to the Opposition MLAs are just on paper.
“Last year 2017-18, CM Manohar Parrikar had promised us to give a total Rs 28 cr of development works for each constituency which did not happen. Again in 2018-19, during the assembly session both he and PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar held different meetings with us and gave us assurance,” Opposition leader Babu Kavlekar said addressing reporters.
He said in total the Opposition constituencies must get Rs 56 cr of works done.
“However, the files are just moving around in the Secretariat. In some cases the files are sent back with queries by Finance Department even after tenders are finalised,” he said.
Kavlekar said he does not understand why the officers are returning files.
“Are officers told to not clear files and keep hanging as there is no money in treasury?” he asked “only widening of NH17 and building bridges is not development”.
