This is to bring to the notice of RTO department, officials, minister the difficulties of bus passengers. I commute daily by bus from Old Goa to Panjim to Miramar.
I and many other travellers face a lot of difficulties at the KTC bus stand. Since there is only one toll gate for buses to get out, there is always a long queue of buses; a lot of honking and chaos, since five roads meet at the circle outside the bus stand and there is always traffic congestion at peak hours.
In the bargain the people inside the bus either reach late to work or reach home late. In summer it is terrible. The RTO officials being so close keep their eyes and ears shut.
Private city buses wait till it is full so much so that one cannot breathe freely or stand on two feet. Private buses that ply to Marcel also fill up more than their capacity.
There should be supervision of buses to avoid crowding because if there is an accident, people could die of suffocation.
Also, women have to stand close to the male passengers, some of who are drunk and stink. The RTO officers, who are comfortable in their AC offices and travel by car, must be considerate of the commuters. I call out to the concerned authorities to look into this matter urgently and seriously so that we can travel more comfortably.
