A meeting regarding the proposed jetty project of Dinar Tarkar Resources Pvt. Ltd. was held on Thursday at the premises of the Curchorem–Cacora Municipal Council in Curchorem.
The discussion took place between two groups in connection with the planned inspection of the proposed jetty site. The inspection had earlier been cancelled twice due to misunderstandings between the groups involved.
During the meeting, both sides addressed the issues that led to the earlier cancellations and mutually agreed on new dates to conduct the inspection of the proposed jetty.
Dattaraj Raut Dessai, who led the discussion, said that villagers in the area strongly oppose the transportation of coal and the construction of new jetties in the region. He stated that authorities should instead focus on improving and utilising existing jetties rather than building new infrastructure.
Raut Dessai further emphasised that local residents do not want coal to be transported through the proposed jetty.
Also present during the discussion was Pramod Naik, Chairperson of the municipal council, along with other stakeholders. The meeting aimed to address concerns raised by the community and facilitate dialogue regarding the proposed project.
