PONDA: A controversy unfolded at the Curti-Khandepar Gramsabha regarding the construction of a kabrastan (Muslim burial ground) wall at the Curti-Khandepar Crematorium.

Heated arguments ensued as some panchayat members claimed that the demarcation had been done prior to the construction, while locals pointed out that the proper procedure for demarcation had not been followed.

Approximately 17,000 square meters of land has been allotted to Hindu, Muslim, Catholic, and other communities. However, the locals alleged that the kabrastan wall was constructed without proper land demarcation, which could potentially lead to disputes among the communities.

Later, heated arguments took place regarding CCTV installation, garbage collection, and the provision of a bus stop at the OPA-Khandepar junction.

The residents questioned why the panchayat had spent money on repairs of CCTV within the one-year warranty period. They also highlighted issues with garbage collection and cleanliness, despite the increase in the number of laborers employed by the panchayat from 22 to 44.
