As informed by Roland Martins, convenor of GOACAN, they had urged the Department of New and Renewable Energy (DNRE) for the translation of the Draft Goa Electric Mobility Promotion Policy-2021 in the official language of Goa and extension of time to give feedback in the interest of consumers of Goa.

In a letter to Aleixo F da Costa, director of DNRE, the GOACAN has pointed out that the very purpose of calling for comments and suggestions to this draft policy is to get maximum feedback from all the stakeholders, general public, etc.

“It is crucial that there is good public participation in giving feedback on this very important policy which will impact the whole of Goa. However, to give comments/suggestions it is important for the consumers to read and understand the document,” said Martins.

It may be noted that the DNRE had issued a public notice on July 9, 2021 calling for comments/suggestions by August 2, 2021 on the draft Goa Electric Mobility Promotion Policy-2021.

The policy document states that electric two wheelers, e-cars, electric auto rickshaws, electric buses and goods carriers will be introduced in the State and the DNRE wishes to make Goa a model State in electric vehicles.
