CANACONA: A driver of an insulated container truck died on the spot after being hit by an unknown vehicle. From the circumstances, it is suspected that the driver was hit while crossing the road at Polem after parking his vehicle on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Canacona police have registered an offence against an unknown driver of a vehicle under Sections 279, 304-A of Indian Penal Code and Section 134(a)(b) of Motor Vehicle Act for fatally knocking down Harkesh Singh, 34, a resident of Hisar in Haryana.
Since there was no one present when the accident took place at about 1.30 pm it was not ascertained as to which side the vehicle went after knocking down the pedestrian.
Police said that after conducting initial investigation it is found that the victim driver, after parking his insulated truck, was crossing the NH66 near Milan Bar at Polem.
Police said that after conducting panchanama the body is preserved in the mortuary at Goa Medical College, Bambolim, for conducting post mortem.
