PARRA: The High Court of Bombay at Goa will hear on June 14, the petition filed the farmers of Parra and Verla Canca challenging the Electricity Department over the laying of a 33 KVA high tension line from Thivim to the Nagoa sub-station, through their fields.
A farmer said that the Electricity Department was damaging their fields while laying the high tension line. “The work of laying electricity poles was carried out even on Tuesday despite strong opposition from the Parra farmers. However, the work was done under strong police protection,” she said.
On Monday, electricity poles were forcibly erected in fields at Parra. A huge police force was deployed at the site the whole day to maintain law and order.
