Not too sure what would happen to their memorandum, the Nationalist Congress Party on Saturday said it had finally decided to submit a memo to the Chief Minister calling upon him to take serious cognisance of the police-politician-drug mafia nexus and urge him to handover the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, NCP Spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said this was one of the decisions taken at the Executive Council meeting of the party today. We have to take an appointment with he CM first and the date of the meeting will be made known soon, he stated.
No sooner Trajano revealed the party would submit a memo for CBI inquiry to the CM on the controversial issue, a volley of questions were thrown at him.
Over questions on whether the NCP would demand the resignation of the Home Minister who had been linked to the nexus, Trajano said, “We hate the sin and not the sinner”.
He implied the party had nothing against the Home Minister but only the drug trade in the State. “The investigation will bring out the sins and the sinners all together,” he stated.
He said the NCP had taken serious view of the issue because there was an apprehension that the nexus could have further direct and indirect links with terrorists.
DATE WITH MAMLATDAR: Trajano mentioned in a bid to bring about better functioning and solve people’s grievances the Revenue Minister and NCP President Jose Philip D’Souza will be visiting the Mapusa Mamlatdar’s office at 11.30 am on August 25.
He said the party was in receipt of many complaints of irregularities in the mamlatdar’s office in Mapusa. The minister will make an attempt to listen to the problems of the people and recommend solutions on the spot if possible, he stated.
MAPUSA CONVENTION: Trajano mentioned the party’s convention at Mapusa on September 5 at 3.30 pm in Sirsat Hall has been confirmed. “Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Urban Development Bhaskar Jadhav will be the star speaker at this convention at which Sawantawdi MLA Deepak Kesarkar will be also present,” he stated.
