PANJIM: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa, on Wednesday remanded Rohit Bhosle and Omkar Pathrud, both residents of Agarwado, Pernem, arrested for assaulting two tourists from Bengaluru, to police custody for a day.
The duo was absconding after allegedly mercilessly assaulting Shailesh Jha and Mohammed Saheed Farooq Ahmed from Bengaluru, in a parking lot of ‘Thalassa Restaurant’ at Vaddy, Siolim at 3.15 am on Sunday after their vehicle grazed against a parked two-wheeler of the one of the accused arrested on Sunday.
The JMFC also extended the police remand by a day of Praveen Pathrud and his accomplice Jaleel Ahmed. Earlier, the duo was remanded to two days police custody.
Meanwhile, head constable Jairam Mhamal, in-charge of the Siolim police outpost, was placed under suspension for delay in taking action in the complaint of assault filed by the two tourists from Bengaluru against staff of the Siolim night club.
Jha and Farooq Ahmed from Bengaluru, were assaulted allegedly by the four accused in a parking lot of the restaurant at the intervening night of November 4 and 5 by the bouncers.
The Anjuna Police registered a case under Sections 143, 147, 323, 324, 326, 307, 384 and 506(ii) read with 149 of IPC.
