MARGAO: A meeting was convened to discuss the preparedness of the Margao Dindi festival by the deputy collector on Wednesday. The authorities were briefed of their duties and compliance. The deputy collector urged the Dindi committee not to put up fireworks show at the Dindi.
Taking exception to the absence of municipal officials at the meeting, Deputy Collector Ajit Panchwadkar said, “It is not a good sign that they do not attend the meeting and we will be writing a strong letter to the higher authorities on their absence.
“The traffic cell and the road transport office have been slammed for not controlling traffic by cracking down on parking on roads and unauthorized stopping of buses,” Panchwadkar said.
“The Dindi committee has agreed not to put up fireworks shows,” the deputy collector said.
“Not much is in our hands as the fireworks are sponsored and we will have a word with the Madgaum Urban Bank and request them the same,” said Manohar Borkar of the Dindi committee.
