Registrar of Goa University Y V Reddy in a communication to North Goa Collector has said that BA degree from the Lucknow based Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad submitted by Deputy Speaker’s son Raymond for the post of Awal Karkun (AK) is from a fake university.

The North Goa Collector had last month asked the Registrar to verify the authenticity of the degree and computer course certificate, submitted by Raymond, following complaint by social activist Adv Aires Rodrigues.

The Registrar in his reply dated March 6, has informed that the University Grants Commission by a notification dated June 30, 2016, notified the list of fake universities which includes the Lucknow based Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad.

The Registrar has also sent the Collector a copy of the judgment of the Madras High Court delivered on September 22, 2017 and that of the Calcutta High Court pronounced on June 19, 2018 holding that the Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad was a fake university.

As far as the computer course certificate is concerned, the Goa University has clarified that it has not granted any equivalence to the computer courses.

“University Grant Commission notification regarding fake universities, wherein Lucknow based Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad, is listed amongst fake universities, with the statement that the matter is subjudice before the District Judge-Lucknow,” Reddy said.

“As regards to the equivalence of computer course, it is kindly informed that no equivalence has been granted to this course by the Goa University,” he added.

Rodrigues in his complaint filed with the Chief Secretary last month had demanded a thorough probe into the selection of Raymond as Awal Karkun.
