PANJIM: Chief Electoral Officer on Monday confirmed that directions have been issued to state government over suspension of Director of Animal Husbandry Siddhivinayak Naik for violation of code of conduct.
Joint CEO, Narayan Navti told reporters that Election Commission of India through a fax on Saturday evening, directed Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava to suspend Naik.
“The government has to submit the action taken report by January 31,” he informed.
Navti said that the order came following the inquiry by Secretary VP Rao, who has found the director guilty and has recommended his transfer.
The documents and the recommendation for transfer were then forwarded to EC for necessary action, Navti said adding “commission too found him guilty.”
Along with Naik, ECI has also recommended suspension of department’s head clerk Janu Kunkolikar, who was official involved in conducting the interviews.
Bharatiya Janata Party had complained to the CEO that the government departments were violating code and conducting recruitment based on which CEO asked for an explanation from various departments.

Chief Electoral Officer is awaiting reply from various authorities pertaining to the complaint filed alleging blatant misuse of police vehicles, police and other government staff by Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Pratapsingh Rane.
Adv Aires Rodrigues on January 28 had filed a complaint stating that around 60 persons including 30 policemen and other staff were currently at the disposal of Rane all paid by the State exchequer.
Joint CEO Narayan Navti said that taking cognizance of the complaint, directions were issued to Chief Secretary, Director of Police and General Administration Department to submit the details on immediate basis.
“We are now awaiting replies from the authorities,” Navti said.
Rodrigues had in the past also filed complaint against health minister Vishwajit Rane for misusing police vehicles and for availing the benefit of additional security force.
