Electricity Department has taken a dig at the people for wanting
good power but they are not allowing the department to get the Tamnar Power
Line.Department complained that people don’t allow them to dig a single trench
on the road for laying power line.The Chief
Electrical Engineer Stephen Fernandes was speaking at the Joint Electricity
Regulatory Commission (JERC) public hearing in South Goa. He said that load
shedding is happening due to the delay in having the Tamnar Power line.”The line will be ultimately installed but the delay is a concern,”
he said. The Department has informed that South Goa gets only
one power line.supply. “We cannot do anything if supply from other
state” he added. In Goa, 60 percent of our power is supplied through
overhead lines and 6.50 lakhs are domestic consumers. 950 crores investment has
been made last year in improvement of Electricity infrastructure. “Electricity Department is working on compensation for power
outages,” the CEE said.
