VASCO: The National Fish-workers Forum (NFF) on Saturday alleged that the authorities have failed to implement the ban on bull or pair trawling and use of LED lights equipped with or without generator in Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
NFF Vice President Olencio Simoes said that the fisheries department issued order banning the use of bull or pair trawling and use of LED lights equipped with or without generator in the EEZ, but sadly rampant violation is continued in the territorial waters and EEZ.
“When we met the Commander of Coast Guard of respective States, it was observed that the Coast Guard did not have any power to impound this illegal boats/trawlers using LED lights or bull/ pair trawling,” Simoes said.
