MARGAO: Former Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, Ferdino Rebello on Monday said India is a democratic country and in a matured democracy every citizen has right to express his opinion.
He was speaking during the installation ceremony of AVC Lions Club at Cuncolim. Reacting to the ongoing debate on nationalism, anti-nationalism and medium of instruction, Rebello said, “We have to believe in freedom of speech. Youth have the right to speak what is in their mind if some one does not adhere to one’s opinion, he can’t be called anti-national. If one does not believe the same view on a particular language, he can’t be called anti-national.”
On the MoI issue, he said, “Parents have right to choose the best school and language they feel is good for their children.”
