SIOLIM: After a minor girl was allegedly raped by a teacher at her school, around 100 ex-students of the school gathered in Siolim to support the teacher. They termed the charges against him as baseless and decided to hold a morcha at the victim’s residence.
“It is not possible for the rape to take place in the school as CCTV cameras are installed all over the building. The victim is not even a student of that teacher,” said an ex-student, adding, “We plan to hold a morcha to the victim’s house and at police station to protest the injustice to our teacher.”
The ex-students also slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for using the girl to gain publicity and political mileage. They claimed that this was the third time a child has been used for such purposes.
They also criticized the school administration for not supporting the teacher, who did not have a black mark in his career, which spanned over 38 years.
The school principal, being a former student, was also present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, AAP Goa convenor Rajashree Nagarsekar termed the meeting as “shameful”.
She stated, “The ex-students openly resolved to hold a morcha to the victim’s house. Does the law allow this? Have police taken cognizance of the threat issued by the former students? Will they assure protection to the family? The family is not aware of the meeting. There was also a lot of mudslinging on the girl and her family. It is a complete failure on the part of Anjuna police. The accused is roaming free and manipulating the case, which is nothing but stage-managed drama.”
