Ex-teacher shot dead at Mapusa

A 70-year-old retired teacher from Jabalpur-Madhya Pradesh was shot dead at his rented house at Duler-Mapusa on Tuesday afternoon.
Albert Luis was a former teacher of St Britto High School, Mapusa, and used to teach Hindi and Geography.
According to Mapusa Police, Luis, who was residing in a rented house at Shetyewado-Duler along with his 17-year-old daughter, was shot dead with a pistol by an unknown person.
His daughter, who is studying in Std XII, had left for St Xavier’s College at about 7.45 am. But, when she returned home at about 1.15 pm, she found the door opened.
Police further informed that when Luis’s daughter entered the house, she found her father’s body in a pool of blood. She immediately called 108 ambulance, who in turn informed Mapusa Police about the murder.
Superintendent of Police North Arvind Gawas, DySP Sammy Tavares and PI Rajesh Kumar rushed to the spot and investigated. The dog squad was also pressed into service, but could not get any clue, police have also taken the finger prints.
The body was later shifted to GMC Hospital in Bambolim for post mortem.
Police said the accused fired the pistol in the ear of the deceased at close range and Albert Luis died on the spot. His body was found in a semi-nude condition. PI Rajesh Kumar is investigating.
